THE 360 PROJECT – by Ryan Enn Hughes

“The 360 Project” is an exploration into the crossroads of photography and motion pictures. It is a study of peak dance movements, captured simultaneously by 48 cameras aligned in a circle.
There are two components to “The 360 Project” – “Ballet 360” features ballerinas from Canada’s National Ballet School, “Krump 360” features dancers from Northbuck Krump. The two styles of dance represent polemic perspectives in both technique and origin – one is beauty, the other beast.
The resulting images resemble a type of digital statue – a frozen, peak moment, embodying the essence of each dance form in 360 degrees. Continue reading

Le Corsaire performed by Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev. Duet choreographed by Nureyev with music by Riccardo Drigo. The pas de deux from Le Corsaire, an extract from the ballet by Marius Petipa, created in Saint Petersburg in1899, based on a poem by Byron, was one of Rudolf ’s first successes, and was a realization for him. For the national ballet school contest in Moscow, in 1958, the young Nureyev, 20 years old and at the end of his third year in the Kirov Ballet School, presented three variations. Continue reading
